Urushi lacquering class
Join us on the 2nd floor of the traditional Kyoto storehouse!
You can learn from the basics to specialized technique of urushi art. Our instructors including a proficient artist and a rising female artist. Make anything you like; chopsticks, accessories, jyubakos (a nest of boxes)... or, repair your lacquerwares. You can also try kintsugi (repairing of cracked ceramics using urushi and powdered gold). All the tools and materials are provided. Please feel free to come and take a look!

*Capacity is 8 people per course.
*In case a day of the class falls on national holiday it will be changed to a same day of the other week on the same month.
*Please note that if urushi comes in direct contact with your skin it is possible to develop a rash. Because of this urushi must be used with care, avoiding contact with a skin and working in a well ventilated space. Please note that we shall not be responsible for any troubles related to rashes.
*You can visit to take a look but trial not offered as it will take at least two months to finish one work. Once you joined you can work on multiple works at the same time.
